Two Starred Reviews!

Witchlanders isn’t coming out until August 30th, but it’s already picked up two starred reviews!!

The first is a glowing one from Kirkus Reviews.  My favorite quote, which I’d be perfectly happy to have carved on my tombstone, is : Exquisite storytelling plus atmospheric worldbuilding equals one stunning teen debut. Meep!

And yesterday, Google Alerts sent me a link to a review in Publishers Weekly, which actually has a better synopsis than any I have written for the book.  My favorite quote from this one:  Plot twists unfold at a riveting pace, the boys’ characters are compellingly sketched, and Coakley explores her subject matter masterfully without falling prey to safe plot choices. Double meep!

More Good News!

Want one more piece of great news? Witchlanders been chosen as a Junior Library Guild selection, which means an extra 4,900 copies of the book will be printed for the guild’s library book club!

Blog Tour

I don’t have too much information to report yet but keep an eye out for the soon-to-be announced tour schedule! My agent, Steven Malk, and my book’s cover designer, Sonia Chaghatzbanian, have both agreed to be intervied AND we’re going to be giving away a Kindle with a cool Witchlanders Kindle Skin! I’m so lucky to have Danny and Heather from Kismet Book Touring to help.  If you’re planning a book tour and feeling overwhelmed, I’d really recommend them.  And the Simon & Schuster promotions people on both sides of the border have been more than fabulous as well!

Check out the lovely tour info page Kismet made for me here.

Cool Witchlanders Digi-Swag!

Speaking of the wonderful promotions people at Simon & Schuster, check out the cool page they made for me where you can find out how to add a Witchlanders banner (above) and a Witchlanders countdown widget to your website!

Meeting Kelley

Me and Kelley!

Something else I did last week?  Met Kelley Armstrong! I took her week-long Dark Fantasy Writing course at U of T, which I’d really recommend.  I met so many other fabulous writers, plus I got a chance to hang out with Jennifer Gordon, CANSCAIP‘s new Administrative Director, who was taking the course as well. So glad I’ll be seeing Kelley again at this November’s Packaging Your Imagination conference in Toronto!

  1. Can I just say WOW!? Congrats on the great reviews. And you met Kelley Armstrong? I’m officially jealous. 😉

  2. Thanks! I should say that the course is the University of Toronto Summer Writing School and they do it every year. In our class there were people from as far away as London England and Alaska. http://learn.utoronto.ca/artsci/creative/Summer_Writing_School.htm

  3. Lena, this is so wonderful. Huzzah!

  4. Lena, this is fantastic. Just goes to show what tons of hard work, persistence and (most important) imagination can achieve. Cheers!

  5. Awww. Thanks, you two!

  6. Yay!!! Congratulations! I’m happy that things are going so well, and I can’t wait to read Witchlanders! 🙂
